Pre St George's Day event - 21st April 2007

Yesterday was the day to celebrate St Georges Day, here in England. I popped along to Pontefract Castle, West Yorkshire to their celebrations. Below are three photo's that I took with my t-mobile MDA - not the greatest of phone camera's.....but gives you an idea of how many people were there and the size of the castle too. The event was pretty good with mock battles, falconry displays, lots of stalls and a hog roast.

Castles and Harry Potter

1. This is Bamburgh Castle, in Northumberland, England.

2. Taken at Alnwick Castle, this gateway is pretty famous in the movies, featured in Elizabeth and also in the Harry Potter Movies.

3. This is the road over to Holy Island, where the Lindisfarne Castle is in the post below. The road to the island is only passable at certain times of the day as the road is Covered by the Sea.

Lindisfarne or Holy Island in Northumberland, it's on one of the nicest part of the United Kingdom coastline and is well worth a visit. this photo was taken on a recent family trip to the area.
